Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) is a collection of disciplines used to help organizations turn ideas into software in a cost-effective and predictable way. While ALM has been instrumental in making software development projects more successful over the past twelve years, statistics show there is still room for improvement. Current ALM tools are discipline-centric and have process, data, and role silos, which don't work well in today's application development organizations. Organizations, too, have functional, technological, and geographic silos.
